Research

The Institute's Program on Integrative Medicine Law and Policy is current pursuing a variety of funded research projects in fields of law, ethics, regulation and policy pertaining to complementary and integrative medicine. The Institute is also helping to support initiation of a Program on Integrative Mental Health Care, on which James Lake, MD has already made substantial headway over the years. Following up on Michael H. Cohen's work in Beyond Complementary Medicine (2000) and Future Medicine (2003), the Institute's Program on Energy Medicine and Regulation will be initiated in the near future.

In addition, Books by Institute Researchers and published Articles offer resources and guidance to the field.

The Institute gratefully acknowledges generous support from the Frederick S. Upton Foundation, St. Joseph, Michigan, of a one-year challenge grant to "help create a think tank of international reputation for law and policy in integrative health care," and a matching grant from the Helen M. and Annetta E. Himmelfarb Foundation.

We also acknowledge the diligent efforts of Larry Mervine, Principal in Mervine & Associates, for his expertise as Director of Development, as those of Sherman Cohn, JD, Professor of Law at Georgetown University, for his assistance in helping us secure matching funding.
